With spatial and temporal effects, the subtly amplified cello transforms the venue into a singing underwater world, into spherical expanses, into bizarre interiors of alien universes. The music is difficult to categorise, but the sensitive interplay of sounds and musical ideas draws listeners into the musical narratives.
Uwe Schade studied cello under Tadao Kataoka, Peter Mengel, and Karl Hermann Jellinek. He has been working as a music performer for dance and theatre productions since 1986. He became a permanent member of Theater Triebwerk in 1995 and has been its artistic director since 2004.
