Recycling with Love
“What do all the people throw away?” thinks Schrott, the friendly road sweeper. With his bin and his broom he roams through the city and collects what others do not need anymore. Schrott has a peculiar interest in the trash of pedestrians. The contents of his bin he views as treasures, as with fantasy, improvisation and skill he transforms scrap into unusual presents full of poetry.
The new piece by puppeteer Steven Luca Groenen from the Netherlands hits the ecological Zeitgeist of upcycling and awareness regarding objects. Groenen, who has previously enthralled the LA STRADA-Crowds with his puppet painter François Blanc, is well known for his touching intimacy paired with his joyful performance. Maybe you as well will take home a present from Schrott as a souvenir.
